Do You Care for Cape Cod?

Of course you care for Cape Cod! And Turtleback Limited does too!

To show our love for this beautiful sandbar we call home, we’re participating in CARE for the Cape & Islands’ second annual “CARE for the Cape Day” as the event’s t-shirt sponsor. We’re also planning on helping out by working up a sweat on May 8th from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve.

Here’s the deal:

Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve is made up of 2,800 acres of preservation lands spread around various locations surrounding Waquoit Bay. Volunteers will begin the day at the Reserve Headquarters and Visitor Center, located in East Falmouth. Morning activities will include trail clearing, and painting and general maintenance of the exhibit area. Lunch and a presentation by members of the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe on the customs and construction of the wetu, a traditional domed hut used by north-eastern indigenous people, will follow the volunteer activity. The outer construction of the wetu, to be completed this spring, is one of CARE’s 2015 projects. A demonstration of Wampanoag cooking is also planned.

The food sponsor for the event is the Hyannis location of Whole Foods, which is providing morning snacks and lunch for attendees.

Area businesses are encouraged to support this local volunteerism effort by promoting the event to their employees and participating as a group. Visit www.careforthecapeandislands.org for group and individual registration.

Have fun. Get a little exercise. Help Cape Cod. What’s not to love?
